I will be the first to say I have been guilty of laying it on thick. But I am facing the same reality many of us should be facing. We cannot take it for granted that we are going to defeat John McCain in the fall.
Too many people said George W. Bush could never be elected eight years ago. Regardless of the manner, it happened, sadly for our nation. Too many more people, said George W. Bush could never be reelected, four years ago. Many of us worked hard day and night. In the end, regardless of the nuances of why, Bush was reelected.
We, those of us who care for our nation, CANNOT allow our nation to endure four more years of the Republican Administration. The language and interplay back and forth in the past weeks has sent up a dangerous signal.
First of all, we cannot do, without all of us coming together. We cannot be bogged down with useless attacks back and forth. I mean it has gotten so viral on here that I feel like I need a pencillin shot after reading the comments.
Finger pointing does not solve or improve matters. Attacking messengers or those who express their views does not make their opinions any less important or your view any more or less credible. Most of all, we must remember, the ones we must defeat is the Elephants in the room, whose latest incarnation is in the form of John McCain.
We have two qualified, historic-making, progressively valued, and experienced potential nominees. If we have Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, we have an experienced woman who has a record of focusing that began with her work for the Children's Legal Defense Fund, through the Watergate Hearings, the Arkansas First Ladyship, into the office of the US First Lady's office, and into the United States Senate. If we have Senator Barack Obama, we have an inspiring African-American man who has a record of organizing that began in the lower income neighborhoods, through the Illinois State Senate, and into the United States Senate. Both have raised incredible sums of money and generated millions of voters to become involved in the process.
So I need to ask that we all make an agreement.
Stop the fighting. Stop the sniping. Stop with the attitude. Stop with belief that it's all or nothing for your candidate.
Let us humble ourselves for the men and women in uniform fighting in Iraq who deserve to come home safely. Let us humble ourselves for the families who are working low income jobs with no health care. Let us humble ourselves for all the communities in America who face discrimination on social, economic, and political levels.
Obamaians & Clintonites let us unite with all Americans. For the future of our nation and for future generations, this is not a request, but a requirement for a better future. Can we all agree to this common goal?
